Scottish Conservative South Scotland MSP Craig Hoy said: “The SNP-Green Budget was yet another missed opportunity. It was a Budget that was out of fresh ideas from a tired nationalist Government, 14 years into office who are now propped up by their friends in the Greens.
“They have a bigger budget than ever from the UK Government, but they’ve decided not to deliver a Budget that will protect jobs and livelihoods in Midlothian and across Scotland.
“Once again, it is our local councils like Midlothian who will be bearing the brunt of SNP-Green cuts as the Finance Secretary failed to deliver a fair funding deal for our communities.
“Kate Forbes should have used this Budget to help support our fight against Covid and support our businesses and public services that are at breaking point. Instead, she used it to talk up a typical grievance with the UK Government.
“The Scottish Conservatives put forward bold proposals for this Budget that would have supported frontline services and businesses across Midlothian, including record spending for our NHS and giving our businesses 75 per cent rates relief. Instead they fell on deaf ears, by a Finance Secretary who is out of touch.”
