Midlothian Conservative and Unionist Councillors congratulate SNP Councillor Shona Morrison as the new President of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA).
Speaking on behalf of the group, Leader David Virgo, Councillor for Bonnyrigg said:
“I want to take the opportunity to welcome the new Presidential team to the office and look forward to working with them over the next five years. However, my colleagues and I are obviously concerned about the potential issues around objectivity as we in local government seek to hold the Scottish Government to account, and best represent the interests of our constituents. I welcome the assurances from Councillor Morrison that she is determined to work collegiately for the benefit of local authorities and their constituents across Scotland”.
