Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for Midlothian Keith Cockburn is backing plans to cap single bus fares at £2.
Party leader Douglas Ross made the announcement at a visit to First Bus Depot in Glasgow earlier this week.
The single fare cap would operate in a similar way to the one currently running in England, which the UK Government have extended until the end of this year.
Keith says the £2 cap will help people in Midlothian get to work or visit family more affordably.
Cockburn added that it will also encourage more people onto local bus services and help to protect vital routes in Midlothian.
Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate Keith Cockburn said: "Many people in Midlothian are continuing to struggle with the cost-of-living crisis.
"Our proposals to cap single bus fares at £2 will help many people get to work or visit family and friends in Midlothian more affordably.
"The scheme introduced by the UK Government has helped people save money and encouraged more passengers to use their local bus services.
"Introducing similar schemes in Midlothian will also help to highlight how vital routes are for many people and help to protect them going forward.
"The SNP should get on board with our plans and reduce the cost of travelling on public for people struggling financially in Midlothian.
"By voting Scottish Conservative on July 4th in Midlothian you can help beat the SNP and ensure the focus is on people's real priorities like improving public transport services."
